On Dec 22, Fairfax Lions and friends put together 30 food baskets, including a gift card, for deserving local families.

Sold out! Our wonderful customers, once again, purchased all the fruit we shipped up from Florida. The fruit was excellent this time – sweet, juicy deep red grapefruit and thin skin/seedless ORRI mandarines (trade name Sol-Zest). Customers all reported: EXCELLENT. We apologize to the many folks who stopped by to purchase, but we had no fruit remaining. PLEASE SIGN UP ON OUR EMAIL LIST, SO YOU CAN ORDER IN ADVANCE – WE GUARANTEE WE WILL HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!!! Scout Matthew E. dedicated his Eagle Scout project to collecting eyeglasses to be recycled by the Fairfax Lions Club. Matthew delivered them at our Dec 2 meeting; Lions took possession for later delivery to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center of Northern VA. This is a very rewarding project – hundreds of persons in need will receive the eyeglasses when none are available to them!
Our guest speaker was Karen Thayer, editor of the Vienna Voice newsletter – one of the last area newsletters in full-color, printed form, mailed to all local households and businesses; it is posted online on the Town website: www.viennava.gov/voice. Vienna Voice archives, back to 1960, can be viewed online. Lion Tom Comi engages regularly with Karen to publish monthly ads about Lions Charity Fundraiser Night at Fosters Grille in Vienna. Karen told us about the publishing process, and gave each Lion a 2026 calendar, and a nice tote-bag.
