Successful Citrus Fruit Sale

Fairfax Lions Club raised funds for charity programs in the Fairfax community by selling fresh fruit from Florida, VA peanuts and Vermont maple syrup. Most sales were placed on-line, then picked up Nov 17-19 in the American Legion Post 177 parking lot.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets

On November 21, a team of Fairfax Lions delivered 60 bags of food (2 bags made up one family “food basket”) to qualified families in Fairfax City, wishing all “Happy Thanksgiving.“

Fairfax Lions worked with our partner “Main Street Child Development Center” to identify the families and distribute the food baskets.

Maureen Johnson became a new Lion and a member of Fairfax Lions Club, at the Club’s October 4th dinner meeting.

Boy Scout Eagle Project

Connor Carrico, a student at Flint Hill High School, told Fairfax Lions about his Eagle Scout project. The project will build a trail for visually impaired campers at the Northern VA Lions Youth Camp.

Fairfax Lions Support Canine Companions

Two Fairfax Lions attended “Dog Fest” in Reston on Sept 24th. Dog Fest raises money for Canine Companions – which provides trained service dogs to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities…FREE of charge.  Dog Fest activities included service dog demonstrations, music, games, speeches and activities for kids. 

Lions Harry and Karen Parker presented a $1000 donation from Fairfax Lions Club.  Dog Fest raised a total of $10,450 for Canine Companions.

City of Fairfax Councilmember Visits Fairfax Lions

Sang Yi, two term councilmember spoke at our dinner meeting on August 16th. Sang updated us on city developments such as the new Amazon Fresh store  and various projects to better the community.  Sang also gave us insight on how the Council works together and his focus on policy and a strategic review of  infrastructure and development plans for Fairfax City.

It was also a distinct pleasure to meet a guest who is interested in joining our Club to help us perform our mission of service in our community. Maureen Johnson is originally from Zambia and is a resident of Fairfax County.
