As we commemorate Independence Day, the Fairfax Lions Club thanks you for your continued support.

Our country became a new nation through the personal commitment, dedication and sacrifice of many thousands of colonials seeking a better way of life in the new republic.  This Independence Day celebration reminds us of those generous people and their contributions.

You can help celebrate the 4th of July by donating your vehicle.  Your donation will help support the Fairfax Lions Club in our mission of service to those in need in our community.

This link takes you to our partner, who will pick up your vehicle, sell it, and deliver the proceeds directly to the Fairfax Lions Club charity programs:  http://www.cardonatingiseasy.org/donate/?CharityID=3229

AND…

Buy a hot dog and beverage at the Fairfax Lions Food Booth – downtown Fairfax City at the city’s Independence Day parade.  All proceeds go to our charity programs.

The Fairfax Lions Club Board of Directors held an all-day meeting led by an expert facilitator. We examined evolving demographics and service needs in our community, and cultural changes that affect the Club’s capability to serve the community.  Discussions were lively and very productive. A  series of strategic actions were agreed upon to make our club stronger, incentivize service and social interaction, and increase club membership.  Our objective is to restructure Club processes to sustain outstanding service to our commnity, and create an environment that welcomes a diverse membership of all ages looking to serve those in need.

On May 3rd, at the Fairfax City Senior Center, Fairfax Lions offered free vision screening.  The vision screening was part of the kick-off events to Older Americans Month run by Fairfax City at the Senior Center.

The Lions were very pleased 14 people participated in this screening, including Fairfax City Mayor David Meyer.  Of the 14, five persons were referred to an optometrist for vision care.  It only takes a few minutes to be screened; Fairfax Lions are pleased to offer this community service.
